The making of a Butterfly

Well things have been crazy around here. I have been busy working on costumes for my three favorite little people. First up: a Butterfly for my baby girl.

I started with yards and yards of tulle:

It blended in really well with my countertops!

Then I cut all the tulle into strips!

I love my new trick for doing this!

I did some sewing of a waistband:

Then I put the freshly cut tulle on the newly sewn waistband:

And tada!!!!! Phase one a the butterfly costume is complete!

Tonight I will complete the wings!

Have a great day!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Fall…

Well the weather has been cooling off around here for the past week or so.  It has been great.  Last week we actually went three whole days and nights without ever turning on the AC!!  How great is that!  Hopefully we will see some savings on our next bill. (yeah right.)

A lot of great things have been happening here lately.  My youngest, Jacob is now walking!  He took his first steps about a month ago…around 9mths old.  And now (10 months old tomorrow) he has starting walking A LOT.  He is so funny.  When he falls he gets so mad and starts grunting and screaming.

My middle child, Claire, has taken to the potty quite well in the past two days!  She hasn’t worn diaper for two whole days and has only had one accident!  I am so proud of her and sooo sooo excited to not have to change anymore diapers! (for her, at least.)

My oldest, Bradley is doing so good in school.  He has really grown an interest in writing.  He has been making lots of books and I just love looking at him and all the ways that he is spelling the words. I am impressed!
Here are some pictures of my precious babies!

I love this picture of Claire.  I love her feet in the flip flops.

Sweet baby Jacob.

Handsome Bradley.

Dining Room Makeover

We have lived in this house for almost a year now and until recently had no furniture in the dining room!  And I don’t know about y’all but empty rooms in my house collect clutter!  Things would just mysteriously appear in the vacant room.  More and more stuff would pile up.  But now, we have a full dining set!

We bought a used table with 6 chairs and a buffet server.  It is just what I was wanting, dark wood with black seats.  It looks great in the room.  Maybe because it is the actual table that was in the room when we first saw this house nearly a year ago!  Yep! That’s right!  We became friends with the people we bought the house from, they moved and sold their table.  So, it is back home where it belongs. hehe.

I am having so much fun decorating the walls.

The sconces:

(sorry for the bad lighting of the pic 🙂 )

I had this fork, knife and spoon hanging on some hooks in my kitchen but I think they are pretty fitting for the dining room, don’t you?

I LOVE this little group of decor!  The box/shelf/frames (?) were given to me and I already had the figurines in a box just waiting for a home!

I could not center them onto the wall because when the door is open it takes up most of the wall.  So, I centered it from the edge of the open door to the corner of the wall:

When the door is open the boxes are no longer centered (okay, maybe I have a slight issue with things being centered) so I am gonna put a vinyl word vertically alongside of the tall box.  Then it will always be centered and the world will be a happy place!

I am not sure what word I will choose, yet.  Maybe LOVE? I dunno…

I will post more pictures of my new dining room tomorrow!

I’ll leave you with a question.  What would you do with this piece?  I am thinking a nice coat of spray paint is in order but should it go inside or outside?  Something is telling me inside but I am not sure exactly where I will put it yet.  Send your ideas my way!

Goodwill Finds!

Well, this is my very first post so I think I will start off by talking about my awesome time at Goodwill today!

It was my first time to go to the new-ish local Goodwill!  It was much bigger than I expected!

I found this neat basket for $3!  Some artificial fruit or some of those decorative balls would look nice in it.

Then I came across this for .79!  (without the lemons) Can you believe it!  I have been wanting one.  I may or may not paint it black. I like the gold color because it matches the gold in my countertops.

I also got a nice treasure box for Bradley, my oldest son.  He loves to collect little trinkets and such so I thought that would be a nice Christmas gift!

I think this may replace my obsession of searching for Target clearance deals!  I can’t wait to go back!
